Hand knit dress by mama!

So my latest foray into craftiness has been to knit up some super-sweet dresses for my girl. My first attempt was a variegated pink and brown number that was just as cute, but I will have to post photos of that one later as it is in the wash (handwash, more specifically, which means she may never wear it again).

Anyway, this is my first attempt at following a knitting pattern (at least a pattern that wasn't for something square, ha!). Apparently, I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to knitting gauge but it worked out okay. Basically, I made the skirt 50% fuller than the pattern called for, but the bodice is kind of my version of "winging it".

The back is a carbon copy of the front. Reversible, I guess you could say. The pattern called for making a front and a back, then sewing them together. Well, call me a rebel, call me lazy, but I really detest sewing up knitted seams. Probably because I don't know how to do it properly so that it doesn't look like my two year old did it, but whatever. Anyway, I decided, why not save myself time and effort by knitting it in the round. That worked out wonderfully, thankyouverymuch! :)

Any other knitters out there? What EASY patterns for children's clothes have you had success with? The one I (loosely!!!) followed is this one from Lion Brand yarn for FREE: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/81022AD.html

Above is an up-close shot of one of the ties on the shoulders. You can also see the detail of the bodice made up of garter stitch. I really like the texture of this dress.

It turned out pretty cute, I think! What projects are you working on?
